We are now in Phase II of our $90million expansion project, which includes reconfiguring and expanding our Women's Health Pavilion, renovating our North Tower lobby and adding a physicians' lounge to the hospital. As you may know, Phase I of the expansion concluded last Fall with the opening of our new Emergency Department with FastTrak and bedside registration, our South Tower with: a heart station, cardiac and pulmonary rehab suite, 24-bed ICU, all-private medical/surgical telemetry units, a new medical office building and a parking garage.
Construction is currently underway on the second floor of our North Tower to completely transform our Women's Health Pavilion to make it even more family friendly. The highlight of the project will be creating 14 private post-delivery rooms. This is big news for expectant parents and soon-to-be expectant parents in our community. All of the new rooms will be completely private with sleep sofas for dads who wish to spend the night with their new little ones. The larger rooms will accommodate more visitors and will have wireless access. Completing the new Women's Health Pavilion will be a new family lounge, larger nurses' station and new office space for our OB/GYN physicians and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staff.
The North Tower construction will begin soon. It will include new flooring and furnishings, a larger patient registration area and a reconfigured information desk. You can think of it as a facelift with patient benefits such as more waiting room space and easier traffic flow for patients and visitors. Our Gift Box store will remain in the North Tower Lobby, as will the many "open to the public" sales and events sponsored by the Phoenixville Hospital Auxiliary each year.
The new physicians' lounge will be on the first floor between the North and South towers and will offer our growing medical staff a larger space to meet and share information. We will continue to keep you updated on upcoming construction projects as the hospital expands and renovates to meet the needs of our patients.
